Menu Design

For this project, I designed the visual identity and menu for the restaurant Sol de Fuego. The process included developing a custom logo and creating illustrations to enhance the menu’s overall aesthetic. Careful consideration was given to layout, typography, and visual style to ensure the final design looked professional and fully aligned with the restaurant’s brand.

The project made use of design tools including:

The process began with exploring different layout options to determine the structure that worked best for the menu. Ideation included developing a mood board, testing layout variations, and creating supporting illustrations. Once the layout was finalized, the design was refined with colour, typography, and illustration details to complete the visual style. With the final design completed, the menu was printed, and mockups were created to provide a clear and realistic presentation of the final product

I chose to keep the logo simple, using the restaurant’s name in red paired with a small fire illustration to reflect the meaning behind ‘Sol de Fuego.’ The overall design is vibrant and illustrative, while the layout remains clean, organized, and easy to navigate.

Through this project, I reaffirmed my love for typography and had the opportunity to strengthen my skills in InDesign. It allowed me to develop design solutions that aligned with the restaurant’s personality, brand, and target audience.

This project also gave me room to explore my illustration skills and learn how to balance them effectively with text and layout. It helped me better understand hierarchy, spacing, and how to create a visually cohesive menu.
