App Design

This project involved designing a complete app concept, and I chose to create one focused on food and recipes. Every element, from the logo to the overall interface, was designed with the user experience in mind. The goal was to develop a cohesive, intuitive app that feels engaging, functional, and easy to navigate.

The project made use of design tools including:

Screen layouts

The process began with market and competitor research to understand existing food and recipe apps. Ideation included developing a logo, creating a mood board, and exploring multiple rounds of sketches. From there, the strongest ideas were refined into visual designs and interface templates. After gathering feedback, I made improvements and continued refining the layout and user flow. Once the final direction was set, I built a functional prototype and created mockups to present a clear and realistic vision of the app.

I chose to develop an app that helps people find recipes and cook at home. The logo reflects this concept through a combined illustration of a chef’s hat and a house outline. The interface was designed to be clean and intuitive, making it easy for users to navigate. Typography, colour choices, and imagery were selected to feel professional, approachable, and visually clear.

Through this project, I strengthened my UX and UI skills, developing design solutions that prioritized user needs while also considering competitor research and the target audience.

Feedback confirmed that the final app design felt approachable, clean, and genuinely useful, reinforcing the effectiveness of the visual and functional decisions made throughout the process.

Ultimately, this project deepened my passion for UX/UI design. It taught me to consider every detail to create the best possible user experience and to use feedback effectively to refine and improve the design.
